The Sun Princess
- OVERVIEW : This was Princess cruise lines first ship in the new Sphere class and it is a big hit. The design is a very novel departure from Princess’s traditional atrium focused ships.
- POSITIVES : The ship itself is gorgeous and the staterooms are well appointed. New venues like O’Malley’s Irish Pub complement the Princess Live venue in showcasing musical entertainment.
- NEGATIVES : The new theatre-in-the-round concept allows for multiple presentation formats, but it is too small for this size ship resulting in long wait times. The Sphere venue, although beautiful, was again too small for the ship and many seats had restricted sightlines. Finally, there are unusual traffic flow patterns such as being forced into stateroom hallways to get from one venue to another which is frustrating to many.
